A real AI desktop app for Linux

Native Linux app for GPT-6, Claude, Gemini and more, plus a desktop AI agent. AppImage and .deb for x64 and ARM64. Free, private, never trained on.

What you get in the Linux app

Chat with GPT-6, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek and every other chat model in your plan, in one window. Switch models mid-conversation and keep the context. Quad Agent, a desktop AI agent that reads and edits files, runs commands in a real terminal and checks results in a browser, inside the project folders you choose. Up to eight agent tasks at once, each with its own terminal, browser and files, and a Changes tab that shows every edit as a colored diff before you commit. Agent projects and chats stay on your computer. Prompts go only to the model you pick. Your chats, projects and settings sync with the web app and the iPhone and Android apps. The download is free, and a free Quad account is enough to start, with 100 credits every month. Paid plans add the larger models and more credits. See the pricing page.

Packages and requirements

AppImage (Architectures: x64 and ARM64; Best for: Any distribution, no install step). .deb (Architectures: x64 and ARM64; Best for: Ubuntu, Debian, Pop!_OS, Linux Mint and other Debian-based systems). Requires glibc 2.34 or newer, such as Ubuntu 22.04 or later, or Debian 12 or later. The .deb declares its dependencies, so an unsupported system refuses to install it instead of failing later. Every release is described by a cryptographically signed manifest, and the download page lists the SHA-256 checksum of each installer. AppImage builds update in the background. Package-based updates can ask for administrator authentication.

Why Quad on Linux

One app for every lab. A vendor's own Linux app runs that vendor's models. Quad runs GPT-6, Claude, Gemini, Grok and DeepSeek side by side, with no API keys to manage. The agent runs commands in a real terminal and edits files in the folders you choose, which a browser tab cannot do. It follows the AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md in your repository and shows every change as a diff. Pick the model per task: Claude for careful refactors, GPT-6 for planning, DeepSeek for cheap bulk work. Your credits are shared across all of them.

Every leading model, one app

Each lab's own app runs only that lab's models. Quad puts them side by side. Models (Quad: GPT-6, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek and more; One lab's own app: That lab's models only). Switch models mid-chat (Quad: Yes, with the context kept; One lab's own app: No). Training on your chats (Quad: Never, on any plan; One lab's own app: Depends on the vendor and your settings). Price to start (Quad: Free, 100 credits a month; One lab's own app: Free tiers vary, paid plans often $20 a month). Leave the picker on Smart and Quad chooses a model for each message, or pick one yourself. A quick question can go to a fast model and a hard one to the strongest, without paying for three subscriptions. Quad gives you the models, not each vendor's own app features.

Private on every device

Quad never uses your chats or files to train AI models, on any plan, free included. There is no setting to find. Quad never sells your data and never shares workspace content with advertisers. On the Private Lane, chats go only to model providers under a Zero Data Retention agreement, so the provider keeps nothing after it answers. Models without a ZDR route ask you to confirm first. Chats and files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can export or delete them yourself at any time. Incognito chats stay out of your history, and their temporary data is deleted from Quad's servers within an hour. The details, and where privacy stops, are on the private AI chat page and the zero data retention page.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a ChatGPT or Claude desktop app for Linux?

As of October 2026, OpenAI and Anthropic each offer a Linux preview of their own app, for their own models. Quad for Linux runs GPT-6, Claude, Gemini and more in one app, plus a desktop agent. Quad gives you the models, not each vendor's own app features.

Which Linux distributions are supported?

Any distribution with glibc 2.34 or newer, such as Ubuntu 22.04 or later and Debian 12 or later. Use the AppImage on most systems or the .deb on Debian-based ones.

Does Quad train on my code or chats?

No. Quad never uses your chats or files to train AI models, on any plan. Agent projects and chats stay on your computer, and prompts go only to the model you pick.
