What Quad Chat is
Quad Chat is a multi-model AI workspace. You sign in once and choose from GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen and many other labs' models, 70+ in all, listed with their specs on the model directory. You can switch models in the middle of a conversation without losing the thread, or send one prompt to several models and read the answers next to each other. Around the chat sits the rest of a daily AI workspace: web search with citations you can open, analysis of PDFs and other files, projects that keep related chats and files together, an Image Studio, and documents, slide decks and designs that open beside the chat and download as Word, PowerPoint, PDF or PNG. It runs in the browser, in native iPhone and Android apps and, for agent work on your own computer, in a desktop app. Quad is not the ChatGPT app and does not pretend to be. It reaches OpenAI's models the way it reaches every other lab's, and puts its own workspace around them.
How it differs from a one-vendor app
A single-vendor app is the deepest version of one company's assistant. A multi-model app trades some of that depth for choice. Models (Quad Chat: GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen and more, 70+ in all; ChatGPT: OpenAI models). Switching models (Quad Chat: Mid-conversation, context kept; ChatGPT: Between OpenAI models). Comparing answers (Quad Chat: One prompt to several models, side by side; ChatGPT: One model at a time). Price (Quad Chat: Free, then $8, $15, $40 or $200 a month; ChatGPT: Free, then paid plans; ChatGPT Plus was listed at $20 a month in our September 2026 comparison). Training on your chats (Quad Chat: Never, on any plan; ChatGPT: Consumer plans can use chats unless you opt out). Native extras (Quad Chat: Quad's own memory, tasks, connectors and artifacts; ChatGPT: OpenAI's voice mode, custom GPTs, memory and connectors). The ChatGPT column reflects what Quad's comparison post recorded in September 2026, as of September 3. Prices and policies change, so check OpenAI's own pricing and privacy pages before you decide. The practical difference shows up when the best model for your task changes. If a new Claude or Gemini release suits your work better this month, a one-vendor subscription leaves you outside it. In Quad you pick it from the same menu and keep your files, projects and history where they are.
Plans and what they cost
Prices come straight from Quad's plan configuration. All plans are cancel-anytime, and yearly billing is up to 15% less than twelve monthly payments. Free (Monthly price: $0; Per month, billed yearly: n/a; Credits per month: 100). Go (Monthly price: $8; Per month, billed yearly: Monthly only; Credits per month: 1,200). Credits are one shared monthly budget across every model. Cheaper models spend fewer credits per message than frontier models, so a plan does not map to a fixed number of messages. Web search is included and uses the same credits. Credits reset each month and do not roll over. If you run out, you can wait, upgrade or buy a one-time credit pack. Free needs no credit card and includes core models from OpenAI and Anthropic, among them GPT-6 Luna and Claude Haiku 5.5. Pro opens the premium chat models plus Image Studio. Ultra adds video generation and the largest Claude models. Each model page states which plan unlocks it. A word on savings. Three separate $20 subscriptions come to about $60 a month, and Quad's Go and Pro plans cost $8 and $15, so the gap is real. It is not a like-for-like swap: Quad does not include ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro or Gemini Advanced, and each provider's native features and allowances differ.
What you give up
Leaving the ChatGPT app means leaving some of its product, and these are the differences we would want to know about. ChatGPT's own features are not included. That covers its real-time voice conversation mode, custom GPTs, OpenAI's memory and its connector list. Quad has its own memory document, dictation, connectors and automations, but they are different products, not copies. New OpenAI releases can reach ChatGPT before they reach Quad, because Quad adds a model once it is available through its model gateway. Usage is credit-based. Quad is not an unlimited plan, and heavy use of expensive models can use a month's credits quickly. A free account does not unlock every model. Premium chat models start on Pro, and video generation starts on Ultra. Quad is a newer company than OpenAI. Read its privacy policy and subprocessor list with the same care you would give any vendor holding your work. If you only want OpenAI's assistant, never compare answers and rely on voice or custom GPTs every day, staying in ChatGPT is a reasonable decision. Quad is aimed at people who already use more than one AI app.
Who Quad fits, and who should stay put
Quad tends to fit you if: you already pay for, or switch between, two or more AI apps and want one place for them; you check an answer with a second model before you rely on it; your work mixes chat with files, research, documents or images; you want your chats kept out of model training without hunting for a setting. ChatGPT remains the better fit if: OpenAI's own features such as voice mode or custom GPTs are central to how you work; your company has standardized on ChatGPT Business or Enterprise; you want a single assistant and never think about models.
How to start with no sign-up
Open quad.chat and ask a question. You can ask your first questions without creating an account. Open the model picker and choose a different model for the same question, or send it to several at once and compare. Create a free account when you want your chats saved and synced to the iPhone and Android apps. The Free plan needs no credit card. Run your normal week in Quad: your usual writing, research and coding prompts. Note which questions you wished another model had answered, and which features you reached for. Upgrade only if you hit the Free limits. If you do not, you have lost nothing. That one-week test is the most honest comparison available, because it uses your work instead of a benchmark. If you keep reaching for a feature only ChatGPT has, you have your answer in days.

Frequently asked questions
Is Quad Chat a real ChatGPT alternative or a wrapper around ChatGPT?
Quad is its own app and workspace. It reaches OpenAI's GPT models, Anthropic's Claude, Google's Gemini, xAI's Grok and many other labs' models through its model gateway, and adds search, files, projects, documents and mobile apps around them. It is not the ChatGPT app and does not include a ChatGPT subscription.
Does Quad include ChatGPT?
Quad includes OpenAI's GPT models, such as GPT-6 Luna on the Free plan and GPT-6.1 Sol on Pro. It does not include ChatGPT's own app features, for example its voice conversation mode, custom GPTs or its connector list.
Is Quad cheaper than ChatGPT Plus?
Quad's Pro plan is $15 a month and Go is $8 a month, and ChatGPT Plus was listed at $20 a month in Quad's September 2026 comparison (as of September 3, 2026). The plans are not identical: Quad uses shared monthly credits across many models, and OpenAI sets its own usage limits. Compare against OpenAI's current pricing page.
Can I use Quad for free without signing up?
Yes. You can ask your first questions at quad.chat without an account. The Free plan adds saved chats, monthly credits, web search and core models with no credit card.
Does Quad train on my conversations?
No. Quad does not use your conversations or files to train its own models, on any plan. Chats are encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can export or delete them yourself.
What do I lose by leaving ChatGPT?
ChatGPT's own features: its voice conversation mode, custom GPTs, OpenAI's memory and connector list. New OpenAI models can also reach ChatGPT before they reach Quad. In exchange you get other labs' models in the same app, side-by-side comparison and a no-training default.
