An AI diagram generator for flowcharts, org charts and mind maps

Describe a process, team or system and Quad draws the diagram, laid out automatically. Drag boxes to adjust, import Mermaid, and export to PNG, SVG or PDF.

How it works

"Draw our checkout: cart, address, payment, then confirmation. If payment fails, let them retry twice before showing support." Quad writes the structure, meaning the steps, decisions and arrows, and the editor lays it out automatically. The decision becomes a diamond, the retry becomes a loop, and nothing overlaps. Once a box is where you want it, drag it, and every position is kept from then on. Auto layout puts everything back in order if you change your mind. You can also keep talking, and "add a fraud check after payment" or "group the shipping steps" edits the same diagram.

Diagram types and editing

Diagram types (What you get: Flowchart, Mind map, Org chart, Sequence diagram, Architecture diagram). Shapes (What you get: 8 shapes, including rectangles, pills, diamonds, circles, cylinders for databases, notes and actors). Connections (What you get: Solid, dashed or dotted lines, with arrows at either end, both or neither, and labels such as yes or no). Color (What you get: Named color tones that follow light and dark themes). Layout (What you get: Automatic layout, then manual positions that stick once you drag). Mermaid (What you get: Import a Mermaid flowchart, sequence diagram or mind map, and copy any diagram back out as Mermaid). Export (What you get: SVG, PNG or PDF).

Diagrams people ask for

An approval flow with a decision, a loop back for changes and a clear end state. An org chart with names and roles, generated from a pasted list. A mind map that breaks a topic into themes for a study session or a planning meeting. A sequence diagram showing how a browser, an API and a database talk during login. A system architecture sketch with services, queues and data stores grouped by layer. A customer journey from first visit to renewal. Developers who already write Mermaid can paste it in and get an editable diagram, then hand a cleaner version back as Mermaid for a README.

Getting a good diagram on the first try

Name the diagram type, such as flowchart, org chart, mind map, sequence or architecture. List the steps in order and say where the decisions are. The AI cannot guess a rule you have not mentioned. Say which direction you want, top to bottom or left to right. For architecture, name the real components. "Postgres" and "Redis" draw better than "a database". Ask for one change at a time once the first draft is close.

Where diagrams go next

A diagram usually ends up somewhere else. PNG drops into a chat message or a slide, SVG stays sharp on a website or in documentation, and PDF prints cleanly for a meeting. If you are building a deck in Quad, ask for the diagram in the same conversation and place the exported image in the presentation. Engineers can copy the Mermaid version into a README so the diagram lives next to the code it describes.

Limits worth knowing

Mermaid import covers flowcharts, sequence diagrams and mind maps. Other Mermaid types such as Gantt or class diagrams are not imported. It is a diagram editor, not a whiteboard. There is no freehand drawing. Very large diagrams with hundreds of boxes get hard to read. Split them into linked smaller diagrams. Diagrams are part of signed-in accounts on every plan, Free included. Guest chats cannot create them.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI create a flowchart from text?

Yes. Describe the steps and decisions and Quad draws a flowchart with automatic layout. You can drag boxes, ask for changes in the chat and export the result to PNG, SVG or PDF.

Which diagram types can the AI generate?

Flowcharts, mind maps, org charts, sequence diagrams and architecture diagrams, plus freeform diagrams that mix shapes and connections.

Does it support Mermaid?

Yes. You can import Mermaid flowcharts, sequence diagrams and mind maps as editable diagrams, and copy any diagram out as Mermaid.

Can I export the diagram as an image?

Yes. Export to PNG for slides and chat, SVG for crisp scaling on the web, or PDF for documents and printing.

Is the AI diagram generator free?

Diagrams are included on every plan, Free included, with a free account and no credit card. Creating one uses your monthly credits like any other request.
